The Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) is an annual gathering of data privacy practitioners and professionals, celebrated through Proclamation No. 527 series of 2018. The event provides an avenue to learn more about data privacy and connect with experts in the field, as data privacy practitioners and professionals share their best practices, theories, and programs that boost data privacy and compliance in the Philippines.

With this year’s theme “Data Privacy For All: Embracing Inclusivity and Diversity,” the National Privacy Commission (NPC) wants to create a more holistic and nuanced conversation about data privacy for all Filipino data subjects regardless of one’s background, identity, or circumstances.

PAW2024 focuses on promoting inclusivity and diversity, emphasizing the universal right to data privacy for everyone.

5 ways to celebrate PAW (For data subjects)

1.	I-educate ang sarili tungkol sa kahalagahan ng iyong personal data at mga karapatan mo bilang data subject. Bisitahin ang NPC website at official social media pages para sa educational materials tungkol sa data privacy and protection.
2.	Take control! Idedicate ang week na ito para ireview ang online privacy settings sa inyong social media accounts and apps. Ichallenge ang sarili na bawasan ang iyong digital footprint sa pamamagitan ng pag-disable ng location tracking sa mga apps, pag-unsubscribe sa mga hindi nais na emails, at pag-limita sa iyong pag-surf sa social media.
3.	Be vigilant! Maglagay ng strong security measures sa inyong online accounts at devices, tulad ng paggamit ng strong and unique passwords at multifactor authentication, pag-update ng software, at pagiging maingat sa pagclick ng suspicious links o pagdownload ng attachments.
4.	Add data privacy into your everyday routine. Basahin ang privacy policies bago ishare ang inyong personal data online at iwasan mag-access ng online banking and shopping accounts kapag connected sa public Wi-Fi.
5.	Knowledge is PAWer! Be an advocate by sharing what you have learned about data privacy with friends, family, and the public. Share and use official PAW materials to foster awareness within your community.

2.	Take a moment to celebrate your commitment to safeguarding data privacy and respecting individuals' rights. Showcase your dedication by transforming complex privacy policies and notices into engaging videos or eye-catching infographics. You may also display your Seal of Registration at your establishment’s entrance visible to your customers or clients. By sharing your compliance journey, you do not only educate your audience but also inspire others to prioritize privacy.
3.	Privacy is a collective responsibility. Engage with your stakeholders and industry peers through collaborative activities. Encourage discussions not only to enhance understanding but also to promote compliance with the Data Privacy Act. Together, let's champion a culture of privacy and accountability.
4.	Cultivate a culture of privacy within your organization. Utilize Privacy Awareness Week wallpapers and Instagram, Telegram and Viber stickers to serve as daily reminders for employees to adhere to your privacy policies. By integrating privacy practices into everyday routines, we reinforce the importance of protecting personal information.
